Dan has been recognized by his peers as a “New York Super Lawyer” in the matrimonial practice area.

In the area of Family Law, Dan has handled countless divorce and separation cases, including trials in Supreme and Family Courts involving divorce, custody, visitation and child support. He has also tried numerous Will contests and estate accounting disputes in Surrogates’ Courts representing both family members objecting to Wills when they thought there was fraud or deception and those trying to protect the wishes of the decedent. He has represented both employers and employees in discrimination cases in Supreme Court and before the New York State Division of Human Rights and the United States Equal Opportunity Commission. In addition, Dan has represented parties in contract negotiations and disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, neighbor disputes and other general property issues. He has successfully tried hundreds of cases in New York State Supreme Courts, Family Courts, Surrogates’ Courts and numerous Town and City Courts in Western New York.

Dan has also developed strong Mediation and Collaborative Law practices. As a mediator, he has facilitated the resolution of the many issues faced by the parties to a divorce or other family related dispute helping them to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement. He also acts as a mediator for the Child and Family Services’ Center for Resolution and Justice, where, in addition to family law disputes, he mediates many neighbor and community disputes.

As a certificated Collaborative Law practitioner, Dan is on the cutting edge of a relatively new area of practice which allows clients to reach a negotiated settlement of issues involved in the divorce process without the tensions and anxieties brought about by courtroom litigation.
