Attorney Richard N. Blewett |

Richard N. Blewett was admitted to the practice of law in 1951. He is a graduate of Canisius College (1948) and the University of Buffalo Law School (1951). He is a past president of the Bar Association of Erie County.

He is also a past president of the Catholic Lawyers Guild (now the St. Thomas More Guild), the Canisius College Alumni Association, and the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo.

A seasoned litigator and trial attorney, Richard is known by fellow lawyers, judges and clients to be a zealous advocate for his clients while retaining his customary courtesy and respect for everyone with whom he comes into contact. In 1996, Richard was selected as the Attorney of the Year by the Bar Association of Erie County in recognition of his outstanding service to the legal profession. In 2009, the Bar Association honored him by conferring on him the Charles H. Doughtery Cilvility Award. He was awarded the Canisius College LaSalle Medal in 1967 as an outstanding alumnus in recognition of his dedicated service to the community. He was again honored by his alma mater as a Distinguished Honoree in 2008. A lifelong resident of Western New York, Richard served in the Army in World War II. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart for service in the Colmar Pocket in France.

Locally, Richard served the community in the capacity of Town Attorney for the Town of Wales for over twenty years. Richard engages in the general practice of law with a concentration in litigation and municipal law.
